Thousands believed dead as earthquake hits Iran
An earthquake measuring 6.3 on Richter scale hit Bam city in south east of Iran at 5.28 am Friday 26 December 2003 causing 50 to 60 percent of complete damages of the houses and buildings. Water, electricity and telephone lines were reported interrupted.

Malaysian Tourism Recovers
Tourist arrivals in Malaysia have recovered, with preliminary numbers showing 1.13 million visitors in November, up seven per cent year-on-year, a report said Thursday. However the total number of tourists between January and November 2003 to 9.25 million fell 23 per cent from a year ago, the Business Times said.
