Machu Pichu Set to Reopen to Tourists in April 2010

Finally, the Inca ruins site at Machu Picchu will reopen to international visitors as of April 1st. This reopening comes following a closure of two months caused by flooding. This is good news for this area, which makes a lot of money off the tourists that come from all over to visit these ruins.

Ernest Hemingway’s Key West Florida Home Becomes a Literary Landmark

KEY WEST, Florida Keys — The Key West home that author Ernest Hemingway lived in from 1931 through 1939 has been designated a literary landmark. Hemingway worked on many of his best-known novels and short stories in a second-story writing studio adjoining the Spanish colonial villa at 907 Whitehead St. They include “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” and the Key West-based “To Have and Have Not,” his only novel set in the United States.

New visitor center to open at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii

Today more than 1.5 million people a year—over 4,500 a day—pay tribute to the USS Arizona crew when they visit the USS Arizona Memorial on Oahu, Hawaii. The state’s top tourist attraction, the center is located on the Pearl Harbor Navy Base, about 45 minutes west of Waikiki. The Memorial, which is a unit of the National Park Service, was dedicated on Memorial Day 1962.

New Virginia Initiative Celebrates Women in the Arts

Canada Goes Green for St. Patrick’s Day

Toronto, ON (March, 2010) — St. Patrick’s Day is the one day of the year when everyone feels a little bit Irish. Celebrations are held around the world with parades, music and dancing. Air Canada to expand service to Jamaica

MONTREAL, March /CNW Telbec/ – Air Canada  announced that beginning this May it will significantly increase its service from Toronto to the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston by doubling the number of weekly flights to the Jamaican capital and deploying larger aircraft on certain days of the week. Air Canada will also offer special introductory fares starting as low as $149 each way.

Maldives Joins Palau, Micronesia in the Fight to Save the Sharks of the World
